And so it begins...

Welcome to Travel Veggie Tales. I am a working 24 year old who is on the road four days a week and strives to maintain a healthy vegetarian lifestyle and a love for exercise. I'm in the beginning stages of training for a Half Ironman and try my best to balance making healthy choices on the road, my not so social life, friends, family, boyfriend, and sanity whenever possible.

I've lived in North Carolina for almost 3 years, have a job that I love and have met some amazing people. I've completed a hand full of races, most recently developing a love for cycling and Triathlons.  Although I'm not sure what got into me the day I registered for a Half Ironman, I typically find that having goals and being held accountable to completing a race make my workouts much more productive and every meal a little more purposeful.  I am typically a person who craves structure and balance, and have a plan to make a plan for almost every aspect of my life. Enter travel. Since October I have been on the road every week Monday through Thursday. Just when I thought it was hard to make healthy eating choices at home, the complexity of airports, restaurants, and hotels are brought into the picture. It's great to be able to travel to new cities and try out new and different restaurants, drink great wine and essentially have very little of your own expenses, right? In theory, yes. Shoe on the other foot - try traveling to new cities each week while hoping to keep your waistline in check, feel your best and have a normal workout and training regimen. Utter turmoil.

At any rate, this blog is intended to capture my best attempts at staying healthy and active while being on the road, and the fun that happens Friday - Sunday when I am able to enjoy doing the things I love at home. Enjoy!
